Ming, Four-extrusion Officier-cap Chair

There is an embossed drawing pattern—cloudlet and two pearls on the backboard. It is carved as exquisitely as other furnitures in Ming dynasty. Slim and heavily bended components are characteristics of this chair. The slim and heavily bended components can only be made of bulky raw materials. The cost was never a consideration at that time, therefore the gentle and nice appealing has been achieved.

Ming, Twi-Cabinet with dragon patterns

There are warped-up on the surface of the cabinet and arch-shape on the surface of the drawer. It was also called “kitchen-fire gate”. In the middle of the front side there is an embossment “ two dragons playing with a pearl, and these dragons have wings. Wing-dragon was a very popular drawing pattern in Ming dynasty, also seen in celadon porcelain and red-carved lacquerware

Ming, Circular Backboard Chair

There are three sections in the assembled backboard: upper one with penetrating sculpture with pearl pattern; middle one with kylin, gourds, mountain mushrooms; lower one with “light feet”—grass pattern in relief. It was made of bulky materials with copper decorations in middle or late Ming dynasty.

Ming, Fragrant Tea Table with four legs and eight sides

It is a variation of fragrant tables, eight sides are made of curled boards with slots. There are zigzag tooth attached to the corset under the frame, imitating the drooping brocade. The holder between legs are rectangular with concave, shaped as sycee. Legs are bowlegs with three turns, ten centimeters higher than normal fragrant tables, which makes the table slim and unique.

Ming, Collet-tenon Warped-up-ends Table

The table has plain tooth-heads which have square shape, sharp edges and corners. There are three supports under the legs and “Pot”loop mouths on top of these supports. Across-bars normally above the loop mouth are intentionally omitted. Surface of the table is made of wide board as long sides with tenons, short sides and warped-up are made of one piece of wood. One characteristic is that board under the warped-up and tenons in the long sides penetrate into the slots under the warped-up. Therefore the shorter sides are pressed underneath with two less gaps than normal curled table surface, which makes the outline of the table simple and plain.

Late Qing Period folk noble carriage

The inside and outside of lattice window are made in the same way and polished by hand to resemble the reality. The wheel-tooth has nailholes, which has a vivid visual effect. Polished by hand, the rung has made the same whether inside or outside. The carriage has every tiniest piece of components one expects to find.
